While working with the theme of reconnection, Aubichon consolidates shared familial experiences into her paintings, and does not withhold the impact of those experiences on her. She achieves multiple perspectives by implementing subtle tensions between figures to interpret the subjective nature of memory. She uses dim light to allude to the emotional weight, spiritual presence, ceremony and comfort present in these moments. Aubichon’s paintings gather and merge memories; she speaks to the weight of intergenerational trauma and documents the process of tending to it.
